Keep a proper ship's log
A ship's logbook that takes your position from GPS and records it alongside speed, heading, wind, sea state, weather, and whatever the crew wants to note down. Every entry is timestamped and kept, so any past passage can be read back in full.
Auto-fills your lat/lon from the device GPS with each log entry.
Record wind, sea state, barometer, visibility, and sky cover.
Free-text notes for sail changes, incidents, and observations.
Browse and review all past entries with map track replay.
Log hourly entries with position, conditions, and sail trim. Same as a paper log, but quicker.
Write down what happened while it's still fresh: the conditions, who was aboard, anything that went wrong.
Build a long-term record of every passage. Useful for offshore certification, and good to look back on.
The browser version needs a connection and stops recording when the screen locks. The Android app fixes both. Entries and tracks are written to the device first and sync when a signal returns, so it keeps working offshore, and recording carries on through a locked screen for the length of a passage.
